BC Distilled Cask Strength Whisky Preview
This year BC Distilled is excited to host a first-of-its-kind preview of BC cask-strength 'almost whiskies'. Over half the distilleries in the province have made or are in the process of aging spirit which will start to come to market after they pass their legal three-year mark in the barrel, after which they can be legally called whiskies.
But we're not going to let that stop us! Even at younger ages many of the whiskies in the province are showing incredible flavour and potential, and we're proud to have partnered with several distilleries to bring you a sneak peak of what's to come. As an added bonus, most of the whisky will be sampled at its original cask or barrel strength (with accompanying water to dilute the alcohol and taste it through different stages) typically 50-60% ABV.
This event will be guided by the steady and experienced hand of Mike Nicholson, who spent 36 years distilling whisky with Diageo.
The whiskies at this event will come directly from the barrel, and will all be under three years old, with the exception of one. They aren't yet for sale, and don't represent the final product. If you ever wanted to get a sense of the coming boom in BC whisky, you can't miss this event.
Tickets will be limited, and go on sale February 1.
